 Dr.K.Kalimuthu lays Foundation Stone for 'Vepery International Youth Centre' 

 

    The Honourable Speaker, TN Assembly,  Dr.K.Kalimuthu laid the foundation stone for the International Youth Centre on the 13th July.
The proposed centre will consist of a built up area of 75000 sq.feet. which includes an Auditorium, a swimming pool, modern health club, Business centre, Guest rooms, Cafetaria etc. 
Dr.G.Ebinesan assured that the Madras YMCA will unleash a new Synergy in achieving its goal to Build Strong Kids, Strong Families and Strong Communities.

Dr.Thiru Kalimuthu appreciated the laudable contribution made by the YMCA as an international movement in the various projects involved with the upliftment of the underprivileged and weaker section of the community.
Mr.Tim Hall, Vice-Consul, American Consulate General recalled the growing partnership of the American YMCA's with Madras YMCA in exploring new avenues of development of Mental, Spiritual and Physical growth among youth and offering facilities for the weaker section in producing Quality Education, and quality Human Capital.

'Psyche Upliftment Programme (PUP 2003)' Workshop for  School Students - YMCA Royapuram

YMCA Royapuram conducted a workshop for school students on 15th July 2003 on the Topic "PSYCHE UPLIFTMENT PROGRAMME". 110 students from the following schools participated.
1) St.Mary's matric - Hr. Sec, School, Chennai 21.
2) Don Bosco Matric. Hr. Sec. School, Chennai 19.
3) Stella Maric Matric. Hr. Sec. School, Chennai
4) Oxford Maric Matric. Hr. Sec. School, Chennai
5) Vellalar Maric Matric. Hr. Sec. School, Chennai 81.

Rev.Fr.Joe Andrew, Rev.Fr.Sitrarasu and Rev.Sr.Mary were the resource persons. Dr.Prasanna Kumar Thomas consultant chest Physician was the Guest of Honour.

Trip to Yelagiri Hills

 

Esplanade Banch organised a family picnic to Yellagiri hills from 27th April to 29th April 2003. The picnic also helped the youngsters to explore their talents and participate in trekking. The boating and sight seeing trip brought the members close to each other to serve unitedly for the cause of YMCA.

12th Kiddies Sports Meet

 

The 12th Kiddies Sports Meet was organise on the 1st August 2003 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
Mr. M.B.Samant, General Manager, Bank of Baroda inaugurated the Sports Meet and Mrs Susan Mathew IAS, Secretary to Youth Welfare and Sports Development distributed the prizes, and the Rolling shield.
Over 200 children below 12 years of age from 53 schools participated in about 40 events.
Mr.Jeevakumar, Convenor, Mr.B.RaviKumar David, and Mr. George Fernadez co-ordinator worked very hard with effective support from the chairman of the Physical Activity Committee, Mr.J.Benjamin Franklin, the General Secretary of Madras YMCA Dr.Ebinesan and the President of Madras YMCA Mr.JeyakarDoss.
