YMCA Membership Campaign 2004
|
|
Membership campaign
for 2004 was inaugurated on 31st January 2004 by
Mr.AK. Viswanathan IPS., DIGof Police CBI under the
able leadership of the campaign commissioner Mr.
Jacob Daniel culminated on the final report on the
7th April,2004 with a record collection of Rs.68
lacs. The YMCA Vepery emerged as the winners of the
campaign shield for highest collection. YMCA
Kottiwakkam annexed the best performers award for
highest percentage increase in membership. The
awards were presented on the 1st of MAy 2004. We
acknowledge the special contribution made by Mr.
Mohanlal Shingvi for his outstanding contribution of
over 100 life members.

31st
Triennial Convention at Pune
|
|
The 31st triennial convention of the National
Council of the YMCAs of India was held at Pune from
May 6 to 8. Rev. Caesar Molebatsai, President of the
YMCA World Alliance inaugurated the convention. Rev.
Samuel D.Stephens, President, Asia and Pacific
Alliance of YMCAs delivered the keynote address. Dr.
Yip Kok Choong, General Secretary of Asia and
Pacific Alliance was also present

Learn
to Swim Programme
|
|
The annual Learn to Swim course for
children below 17 years was
conducted from 21st April till 7th
May 2004 at the YMCA College
Swimming Pool. Mr. Jagan M. Seshadri,
IPS, Additional DGP., Metro
Transport Corporation was the chief
guest. There was enthusiastic
participation of over 100 children
at the programme. The valedictory
function was held on 7th May 2004.

Urban Network Conference at Prague, Czechoslovakia
|
|
|
Dr.
G.Ebinesan, General Secretary attended the
World Network Urban Conference at Prague,
Czechoslovakia from May 18 to 22, 2004. He
emphasized the potentiality of YMCA Madras
in venturing into new partnerships with
YMCAs through out the world in dealing with
contemporary problems and issues confronting
the society.

Ecumenical
Good Friday and Easter Service
|
|
At Vepery Branch, Dr. Bro. John Joseph, Founder,
President, Christ for every Soul delivered the
inspiring Good Friday message. At Kottiwakkam, the
service was jointly organised with Hindustan Bible
Institute and Faith Prayer Tract League. Bishop Dr.
Mano Daniel, Mr. Jacob Daniel, Mr. Jayakardoss,
shared the message. Mr. Peter Asirvatham, Mission in
charge of New Calvary church and Pastor Daniel
Manohar lead the praise and worship session.

Singapore, Malaysia Tour
|
|
YMCA, Kilpauk
organized a 10 day tour to Singapore and Malaysia
for the members. They visited different YMCAs and
were hosted a special luncheon reception by the
General Secretary Mr. Albert Chong of YMCA, Kuala
Lumpur. The members also visit Orchard Road, YMCA,
Singapore. Mr. D.S.Mithra, Branch Chairman presented
a memento on behalf of YMCA Madras
